As an urban futurist, Stephen Yarwood offers practical thinking about urban change as a result of emerging community, environmental, economic, and technological trends. He helps people think about the future and provides ideas, tools, and processes to empower them and improve their communities in both the short and long term.
Stephen worked in the South Australian Government and Parliament and as Principle Planner at the City of Playford, a large, rapidly growing metropolitan Council. He has served as an elected ward councillor, Deputy Lord Mayor, and Lord Mayor of an Australian capital city. His planning experience is exceptionally diverse, from strategy to implementation, dealing with most land use types and an incredibly diverse range of community, design, and development issues within all levels of government.
Active in the university sector, he is an adjunct lecturer at the Adelaide University Business School and Canberra University Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis and Deputy Chair of the Adelaide University Alumni Committee. He also sits on the Adelaide University Independent Council Selection Committee and Business School Advisory Committee.
