Sanjay Sharma is the former Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Machinima, Inc., the pioneering YouTube Multichannel Network (MCN) focused on the young male videogamer/comic-con demographic and the revolution in over the top video. Sharma was an early member of the Machinima executive team and helped craft the company’s go to market strategy and positioning, and was responsible for its deals with professional content producers, studios and game publishers. Sharma has worked in the internet for over a decade, and previously was at an advertising technology startup, Spot Runner, that aimed at disrupting the television advertising market.
Prior to startups, Sanjay spent several years in traditional media, primarily in the business and legal affairs group at Warner Bros. Pictures where he worked on dozens of films, including the Ocean’s Eleven and Dark Knight franchises. Sharma began his career clerking on the 9th Circuit US Court of Appeals and then practicing IP, technology, and antitrust law with the international law firm HellerEhrman. He is an active member of and advocate for the startup ecosystem in Los Angeles and works closely with a number of area startups and accelerators. Sanjay graduated from Columbia University, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.A. in History. He earned his JD with distinction from the Stanford Law School.
