Rebecca Cousins is a consultant leading BASIC’s Next Generation program from Boston, Massachusetts. The NextGen project engages emerging policy makers to better understand their policy interests and drivers, and to find ways to contextualize the nuclear weapons debate in a way that resonates. Rebecca was previously BASIC’s Program Director in Washington D.C., before which she was a career diplomat with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She has worked in New York, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, and in 2012 was awarded an MBE for her role in responding to the 2011 earthquake in Japan, and subsequent Fukushima incident. Rebecca has a Masters in Public Policy from Princeton.
