    PhD Candidate at the Technische Universität Darmstadt

    Moritz Kütt is a PhD candidate in the Physics Department at the Technische Universität Darmstadt and a member of the Interdisciplinary Research Group Science, Technology, and Security (IANUS). He holds a Master of Science in Physics and a Bachelor Of Arts in Political Science. Over the summer 2014, Kütt has been a Visiting Student Research Collaborator at Princeton University’s Program on Science and Global Security. For his PhD, he analyzes the role of open source software for nuclear security. Kütt develops open source simulation tools for verification tasks in nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and is interested how open source software influences trust among states, how it can increase participation in software development, and how “hacker culture” could help nuclear disarmament. Other areas of interest are application development for Google Glass related to nuclear safety and security and content analysis to understand the progression of the prohibition of nuclear weapons as a possible international norm.
