Mark oversees economic research and policy development for the United Service Workers West SEIU, which represents 40,000 contracted property service workers in California. His strategic analysis was critical in lifting janitors and security officers’ out of the depths of poverty and attaining family medical benefits. He is now leading the union’s strategic thinking on how Californians can tackle extreme inequality and drive enduring prosperity. Mark has also headed up Strategic Communications at the Latino civic engagement nonprofit SOL California. At SOL he developed a participatory workshop to craft a new progressive “narrative” through people’s experience of coming to the Golden State from around the world and across the country.
