    Technology visionary, author & teacher

    Credited with coining the term “virtual community,” Howard Rheingold began exploring and pushing the boundaries of online relationships and interactions before there even was an internet. Howard was one of the earliest innovators to recognize the power and potential of online collaboration and learning and has given talks at MIT’s Media Lab and TED on the subjects. The acclaimed author of The Virtual Community, Smart Mobs and Net Smart: How to Thrive Online, Howard continues to evolve our notions about learning, having taught digital journalism and learning at the University of California, Berkeley and currently at Stanford. He also founded and teaches at Rheingold U, an online learning platform, and is a regular contributor at the peer-to-peer learning site, Peeragogy.org.
