Henry Poole co-founded CivicActions in 2004 with Aaron Pava, and has been on the board of the Free Software Foundation since 2002. In 1993, Poole created one of the first Internet agencies, Vivid Studios, which launched the first websites for numerous leading U.S. companies. In 2001, Poole lead Mandrakesoft, a French based Linux Publisher, as CEO. In 2002, Poole published the Affero General Public License, the first and leading free software license for SaaS/PaaS. In 2003, Poole created the first blog for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and served as CTO on a US presidential primary campaign. After eight years building web platforms for over 200 NGOs and non-profit organizations, CivicActions has recently began working with government clients. CivicActions just received their GSA schedule and has recently been awarded their first Federal prime contract. Poole lives in Northern California with his wife and two sons and is an evangelist for mindfulness/meditation.
