Gareth Porter has been covering U.S. national security policy as an investigative journalist since 2005 and has broken a number of major stories on U.S. military and diplomatic policy in the Middle East. He contributed to Inter Press Service from 2005 through 2014 and is now a columnist for Middle East Eye. He was the winner of the 2012 Gellhorn Prize for Journalism given by the UK-based Gellhorn Trust. He was the Saigon Bureau Chief for Dispatch News Service in 1971 and got his PhD in Southeast Asian Studies at Cornell University. He is the author of five books, the most recent of which is Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iran Nuclear Scare.
