    Ahmad is the co-founding partner and senior advisor at the Urban Economy Group, a consulting and venture firm that focuses on innovation and growth sector opportunities in cities and communities. A featured speaker and globally recognized authority, Ahmad advises start-ups, government ministries, and colleges and universities on the future of education, workforce and economy. His goal is to expand the pool of global talent by cultivating the “untapped” communities through his NXTL program (next leaders).

    Prior to Urban Economy, Ahmad held a myriad of leadership positions, including as dean workforce development at Merritt College, as senior associate at international research firm, Social Policy Research Associates (SPR), as the national project lead of Expanding Business Engagement initiative for the US Department of Labor and a regional director of NetDay, a Clinton White House initiative with Silicon Valley tech leaders.

    Ahmad currently is a Presidential Fellow with the Saybrook University. He previously served as an Economic Opportunities Fellow with the Aspen Institute, and as an Oakland Mayoral appointee to Rockefeller Global 100 Resilient Cities initiative. Ahmad has graduate degrees from St. Mary’s College and San Francisco State University, and received his executive training at the Harvard Kennedy School, Center for Public Leadership.
