Reinvent Sustainable Banking

Series: Reinvent America: Inaugural Series

How do we reinvent sustainable banking by taking advantage of new technological trends?
The banking industry may well be headed the way of the publishing, newspaper and music industries—fundamentally shaken by the tech transformation. Stanford professor & entrepreneur Bruce Cahan and an eclectic group of participants roughed out the elements of a new kind of sustainable banking system, one focused on people. These new banks would be responsible stewards of local communities and the environment, and would evolve to be a force for stability rather than volatility over time. All of this could come together if banks take advantage of the new trends developing around transparency, big data and mobile technology. The potential catalyst for this transformation is the next generation of customers, the Millennial Generation, a generation that’s setting ever higher expectations for business.
